This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Supervise market intelligence initiatives, which include sizing the Total Addressable Market (TAM), analyzing customer landscapes, market dynamics, competitive environments, and substitution risks.
• Keep informed on Western Digital's primary HDD operations and adjacent emerging market ventures.
• Track demand signals, shifts in technology, and changes in customer behavior.
• Create analytical models and insights regarding AI-driven data growth, cycles of cloud capital expenditure, and storage tiering economics.
• Collaborate with venture teams to evaluate emerging markets and develop proprietary market perspectives.
• Evaluate Western Digital's positioning in emerging markets and identify necessary capabilities for development, acquisition, or partnerships.
• Suggest opportunities for more extensive diligence or investment and establish leading indicators.
• Assist in quarterly market assessments for senior leadership and the annual strategy planning process.
• Provide market outlooks and scenarios for long-term planning.
• Collaborate on growth initiatives, portfolio management, ecosystem development, and investment projects.
• Support sales, product, marketing, and finance strategies related to pricing, capacity, roadmaps, account planning, and business cases.
• Maintain a data-driven competitive landscape overview that includes capacity additions, technology roadmaps, cost structures, and commercial practices.
• Analyze competitive actions and their effects on Western Digital's market position.
• Manage relationships with external industry research analysts.
• Oversee the research portfolio across both core and new venture markets, identifying insight gaps and managing the vendor portfolio.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in top-tier management consulting, corporate strategy, or market intelligence roles.
• Experience in building market models and forecasts from the ground up, utilizing third-party insights, primary data sources, and expert interviews.
• A proven history of supporting and leading complex strategy initiatives from hypothesis formation to actionable recommendations.
• Strong quantitative skills and sound judgment in ambiguous, high-stakes scenarios.
• Excellent financial understanding linking market dynamics to business models, unit economics, and financial results.
• Exceptional strategic thinking capabilities and structured problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent executive communication skills, including the development of materials, crafting narratives, and delivering presentations to senior leadership, C-suite, and Board members.
• Demonstrated ability to foster alignment and influence senior stakeholders.
• Preferred domain expertise in the semiconductor, technology, or electronics sectors.
• Familiarity with markets related to data storage, memory, or cloud infrastructure is a plus.
• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, or a related analytical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• An MBA or comparable experience is preferred.
• Flexibility for remote work within established company guidelines.
• 15–25% travel required to engage with internal stakeholders, partners, and attend industry events.
