Director, Commercial Legal – Americas

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Head the Americas Commercial Legal team at Veeam, providing support to the sales organization.

• Oversee a team of four to five attorneys while also playing a vital role as an individual contributor.

• Collaborate with the EMEA counterpart on contract positions, templates, playbooks, and processes.

• Negotiate and finalize complex, high-value software, SaaS, BaaS, professional services, and channel transactions.

• Provide counsel on legal, regulatory, privacy, and commercial issues.

• Mentor and develop the Americas Commercial Legal team.

• Work alongside Sales and sales leadership on pipeline management, business priorities, and transaction resources.

• Create and present training on contracting processes and practical guidance.

• Act as the escalation point for intricate, high-risk, or unprecedented commercial matters.

• Promote collaboration and ongoing improvement within the global Commercial Legal team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Licensed attorney authorized to practice in at least one U.S. state.

• Over 12 years of post-qualification experience attained at a prestigious law firm and/or in-house.

• Significant in-house experience within a software or technology organization.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing, coaching, and developing legal professionals.

• Extensive practical experience in negotiating and closing intricate software and SaaS agreements in a dynamic sales environment.

• Outstanding drafting and negotiation abilities.

• Experience collaborating with Sales and other business stakeholders in the technology sector.

• Familiarity with advising on privacy and data protection issues in commercial technology agreements.

• Strong commercial insight and pragmatic, risk-aware decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication and persuasive abilities.

• Capability to distill complex legal matters into clear, actionable guidance.
