Director, Ambulatory Revenue Cycle Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Offer strategic and operational guidance for revenue cycle activities across Medical Group, Urgent Care, and Occupational Health service divisions.

• Promote system standardization throughout all markets, performance management, and accountability among stakeholders.

• Collaborate with market leaders, practice administrators, clinicians, and frontline staff to enhance scheduling, registration, insurance verification, authorization, and patient financial engagement.

• Enhance front-end revenue cycle performance by ensuring registration accuracy, minimizing eligibility and demographic errors, and capturing compliant patient data.

• Spearhead digital transformation projects that include online scheduling, digital registration, automated eligibility verification, patient portals, mobile check-in, and electronic payments.

• Boost collections of patient financial responsibilities through transparent pricing, point-of-service collections, payment plans, and patient education initiatives.

• Analyze root causes of claim denials and registration-related rework to implement corrective action plans.

• Utilize performance metrics, dashboards, and data analytics to track revenue cycle indicators and enforce accountability.

• Develop onboarding, orientation, training, and ongoing education programs for scheduling, registration, and patient access personnel.

• Assess and mentor frontline associates and leaders while executing targeted development plans.

• Lead cross-functional continuous improvement efforts, process standardization, technology adoption, and automation initiatives.

• Oversee market-based revenue cycle subject matter experts who support frontline associates and market leaders.

• Cultivate working relationships with Epic, Ensemble, and other key partners.

• Report to the System Chief Operating Officer of the Medical Group, with a dotted line to the System Chief Revenue Officer.

• Supervise 10 direct reports.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business (mandatory).

• Over 7 years of progressive experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, specifically in ambulatory/professional billing operations.

• Minimum of 5 years in leadership positions.

• Proficient in computer technology, particularly with the Microsoft suite of tools.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, along with excellent grammar and proofreading skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively at all organizational levels.

• Capability to interpret and manage detailed analytical data.

• Expertise in strategic planning and execution.

• Knowledge of performance improvement, Lean methodologies, and process redesign.

• Skills in change management and physician/practice partnerships.

• Familiarity with payer and regulatory requirements.

• Contract and vendor management capabilities.

• Ability to influence without direct authority.

• Strong executive communication and presentation skills.

• Capacity to work within a matrix environment.

• Master’s Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration is preferred.

• Experience in multi-site or multi-market ambulatory revenue cycle leadership is preferred.

• Preferred experience with Epic and vendor-partner oversight.

• Experience in a physician enterprise or medical group context is preferred.

• Familiarity with Epic is preferred.
