Director – Accounting Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage all functions within Accounting Operations, encompassing Accounts Payable, Billing, Credit & Collections, Payroll, and Equity Administration.

• Create and uphold scalable processes, policies, and internal controls to ensure operational excellence and compliance with regulations.

• Oversee the full accounts payable process, guaranteeing timely vendor payments, expense processing, and robust controls over disbursements.

• Supervise customer billing operations, ensuring precise and punctual invoicing in line with contractual agreements and company policies.

• Direct the Credit & Collections team to enhance cash collections, reduce delinquent accounts, and improve Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).

• Develop collection strategies, track key performance metrics, and provide consistent reporting and forecasts to senior management.

• Manage payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with tax regulations, reconciliations, and adherence to federal, state, and local laws.

• Administer equity management through Certent, which includes stock option grants, vesting schedules, employee transactions, reporting requirements, and collaboration with Legal, HR, and external parties.

• Ensure adherence to SOX controls, company policies, and relevant regulatory requirements across all accounting operations.

• Collaborate with the broader accounting team to assist in month-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, reporting, and balance sheet account management.

• Propel process improvement initiatives and automation projects to boost efficiency, enhance controls, and improve stakeholder engagement.

• Lead the implementation, optimization, and integration of accounting systems and operational tools, such as NetSuite, Certent, payroll platforms, and billing systems.

• Develop and track operational metrics and KPIs to assess team performance, productivity, and effectiveness.

• Mentor a high-performing accounting operations team located in the U.S. and India, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and ongoing improvement.

• Act as a vital business partner to Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and Executive Leadership on accounting operation initiatives.

• Facilitate internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation, timely responses, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.

• Lead special projects, including system implementations, acquisitions, integrations, process redesigns, and organizational scaling initiatives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

• CPA is strongly preferred.

• A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with significant leadership roles in accounting operations.

• Proven experience in managing various accounting operations functions, including Accounts Payable, Billing, Credit & Collections, Payroll, and Equity Administration.

• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, SOX compliance, and best practices in operational accounting.

• Direct experience with equity program administration and familiarity with Certent (or a similar equity management platform) is highly desirable.

• Experience in leading payroll operations and collaborating with HR on compensation, benefits, and compliance-related issues.

• Background in collections management, cash flow optimization, and customer account management strategies.

• Experience in a publicly traded company setting.

• Experience in media, technology, SaaS, advertising, or other fast-growing sectors.

• Proven track record of successfully leading large teams, enhancing organizational capability, and driving measurable process improvements.

• Strong expertise in systems, including NetSuite, ERP implementations, automation tools, and operational workflow technologies.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a solid familiarity with reporting and analytics tools.

• Excellent project management skills, capable of juggling multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities focused on operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.

• Demonstrated leadership presence, business partnership skills, and a customer-service-oriented approach.
