Digital Librarian

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the transfer and intake of literature records, ensuring processes like deduplication, file naming, and version control are followed.

• Create and implement metadata standards, controlled vocabularies, and indexing conventions for scientific literature.

• Develop and sustain the screened literature database and reference library, such as Zotero.

• Set up, test, and perform quality checks on AI-assisted intake and screening tools.

• Identify edge cases for expert evaluation.

• Prepare records and metadata for the final library file packages, collaborating with the document production team.

• Work alongside the Fisheries Biologist consultant on decisions regarding borderline relevance and classification.

• Document workflows, standards, and procedures for quality control.

• Assist in status reporting to the Program Manager.

• Design and manage the intake, indexing, and metadata workflow for a searchable Columbia River fish mitigation research library.

• Provide support to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, for its Columbia River Fish Mitigation literature compilation project.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in organizing scientific, technical, or federal research literature is preferred.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted tools for documentation, research synthesis, or content workflows is desired.

• Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards is preferred.

• Previous experience with federal contracting is a plus.

• Must be available for meetings during Pacific and Eastern business hours.

• Proficient in developing and applying metadata standards, controlled vocabularies, and indexing conventions for scientific literature.

• Competence in building and maintaining a screened literature database and reference library, such as Zotero.

• Skill in configuring, testing, and performing quality checks on AI-assisted intake and screening tools.

• Ability to prepare records and metadata for final library file packages.

• Capacity to coordinate borderline relevance and classification decisions with a Fisheries Biologist consultant.

• Ability to document workflows, standards, and quality-control procedures.

• Proficient in supporting status reporting to the Program Manager.
