This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute comprehensive tactical communication strategies.

• Offer consultation and advice on communication media for significant publications, initiatives, and programs.

• Create and produce marketing, promotional, editorial, and publication content.

• Collect data, report, and analyze brand mentions, earned media, social media, and potential reputational risks.

• Provide real-time monitoring of crises for the university.

• Generate innovative methods to communicate, market, and promote subject matter effectively.

• Act as a subject matter expert across various communication channels.

• Write and edit publications, reports, websites, grants, executive remarks, and press releases.

• Conduct interviews, research, and gather relevant information.

• Oversee production materials, including artwork, graphics, images, and illustrations.

• Coordinate and review the work of communications staff, freelancers, photographers, production teams, and vendors as necessary.

• Provide editorial leadership for communication channels.

• Direct marketing strategies, media, web initiatives, and public relations efforts.

• Manage relationships with vendor agencies.

• Oversee external media planning, purchasing, marketing events, and partnership marketing.

• Lead strategies for engagement and relationship management using email, Salesforce, and CRM tools.

• Enhance SEO/SEM, email campaigns, user experience, digital advertising, promotions, and social media efforts.

• Measure and evaluate campaigns and project data through KPIs and ROI analysis.

• Create compelling briefs and ensure timely and accurate messaging.

• Apply best practices across both paid and organic channels.

• Organize promotional events and ensure the timely delivery of materials and merchandise.

• Maintain brand consistency across websites, email, social media, events, and printed materials.

• Direct website strategy and manage associated vendors.

• Monitor relevant landscapes while providing insights and recommendations.

• Manage budgeting and forecasting within the area.

• Collaborate with colleagues to share insights and promote cross-program initiatives.

• Advocate for digital analytics and research to guide communication strategies and institutional leadership.

• Produce daily media monitoring reports for executive and communications leadership, including risk assessments.

• Utilize AI and automation tools to enhance reporting and monitoring processes.

• Review, revise, and distribute brand monitoring reports generated by contractors.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

• Four years of related experience.

• Additional education may compensate for required experience.

• Additional relevant experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, following the JHU equivalency formula.

• Preferred experience with media analysis and reporting tools such as Meltwater, BuzzSumo, and SimilarWeb.

• Familiarity with AI capabilities, data visualizations, and dashboards is preferred.

• Intermediate skills in campaign management.

• Intermediate knowledge in communications planning.

• Intermediate expertise in content marketing.

• Developing proficiency in digital communications.

• Intermediate editing skills.

• Intermediate experience in editorial research.

• Intermediate skills in event planning.

• Intermediate knowledge in media monitoring and analysis.

• Intermediate project coordination capabilities.

• Intermediate vendor relationship management skills.

• Intermediate writing proficiency.
