Development Manager – Configuration Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and consistent feedback.

• Take ownership of delivery outcomes within the defined scope, offering practical estimates and making capacity and priority trade-offs transparent.

• Collaborate with Product Management and the EVP to establish priorities and translate customer requirements into executive reporting functionalities.

• Supervise the design, development, and upkeep of configuration management features, which include configuration policies, templates, reusable settings, and baselines based on CIS Benchmark.

• Evaluate endpoint configurations against supported baselines and report any deviations.

• Manage endpoint targeting, groupings, and policy assignments.

• Oversee configuration discovery and its comparison with the desired state.

• Identify and rectify configuration drift.

• Validate, stage, implement, and revert configuration changes when applicable.

• Administer configuration status reporting, change history, and audit trails.

• Direct technical decisions from solution design through to development and production deployment, ensuring coordination of cross-cutting architecture and security choices.

• Establish clear definitions for metrics, reporting periods, data freshness, and any missing data.

• Coordinate with Product Value and core engineering teams regarding source data, reporting content, access controls, and shared infrastructure.

• Oversee automated pipelines for the building, testing, validating, and deploying of reporting services.

• Leverage AI technologies when they enhance development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in leading software engineers and managing the delivery and operation of production systems.

• Strong foundational knowledge in software engineering with the ability to guide architecture and contribute to technical problem-solving.

• Excellent expertise in Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python.

• Experience in building and operating AWS services in a production environment.

• Practical experience with endpoint management, configuration automation, or systems that enforce desired states.

• Understanding of operating system configurations, policy evaluations, idempotent operations, and safe change execution.

• Experience in designing systems capable of handling intermittent connectivity and partial failures.

• Strong communication abilities to align engineering activities with product priorities.

• Professional proficiency in English for leading an English-speaking team and collaborating across various functions.

• Experience in writing automated tests for configuration changes and remediation workflows.

• Proficient in SQL.

• Experience with PowerShell and Windows administration.

• Familiarity with runtime isolation and sandboxing for sensitive execution.

• Background in B2B SaaS, security, compliance, or data governance.

• Experience in developing high-load products with multiple endpoints.

• Knowledge of CIS Benchmarks, configuration baselines, policy versioning, and auditability.
