Desktop Software Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain CaseView content along with JScript automation for solutions related to financial statements, assurance, and tax preparation.

• Utilize the CaseView document object model for managing tables, rows, paragraphs, formulas, and conditional content.

• Convert functional specifications and user stories into precise, maintainable scripts.

• Execute and troubleshoot intricate conditional logic, including dependencies among formulas and document sections.

• Assess, debug, and enhance existing scripts across extensive content sets.

• Oversee XBRL/iXBRL tagging and mappings to fulfill reporting obligations.

• Develop and maintain C#/.NET integrations that link desktop applications to REST APIs and local data sources, such as CSV, XML, and databases.

• Manage authentication, response parsing, and data mapping into document fields and tables.

• Employ AI-assisted and agentic development tools to aid in scripting, testing, and content maintenance, while reviewing generated output for precision.

• Create automated workflows and internal tools that enhance development efficiency.

• Partner with QA and product owners to ensure that generated documents align with specifications and relevant financial reporting standards.

• Contribute to the Knowledge Library frameworks used for packaging and distributing content.

• Develop content and scripting within CaseView and Caseware Working Papers.

• Provide support for financial reporting solutions utilized by clients across Europe, encompassing IFRS, local GAAP, and associated disclosure requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in software development.

• Practical experience with C#/.NET, Windows desktop applications, and scripting or automation.

• Solid foundation in JavaScript.

• Capability to interact with object models in scripting environments.

• Experience with Windows Script Host, COM/ActiveX automation, or similar desktop scripting technologies.

• Background in integrating applications with REST APIs and structured data sources like CSV, XML, or databases.

• Ability to manage authentication, parse API responses, and map data between systems.

• Strong debugging abilities.

• Capacity to understand conditional logic, AND/OR precedence, and dependencies.

• Hands-on experience using AI coding agents such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Devin, or similar tools.

• Experience in creating automation scripts, bots, or development pipelines.

• Proficient in written and spoken English.

• Ability to work collaboratively in an international team.

• Eagerness to learn how accounting and financial reporting requirements influence software behavior.
