Design Manager – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Singapore, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Offer expertise in subject matter and design advice for events and experiential spaces.

• Ensure that architectural designs for event venues, collaboration areas, executive briefing centers, activations, and support spaces are tailored for optimal guest and user experiences.

• Create documentation outlining client requirements and architectural design briefs, encompassing architectural needs, operational factors, and program limitations.

• Conduct, document, evaluate, and present studies on user journeys and strategic visioning.

• Provide and sustain progress reports and presentations for key stakeholders and partners.

• Utilize written and visual documentation to convey stakeholder requirements, project objectives, and design intentions.

• Serve as a primary contact for client stakeholder teams, project managers, and design teams.

• Facilitate clear communication among clients, project managers, design teams, and external partners.

• Collaborate with clients and external partners while managing varying team priorities.

• Take part in design team and project meetings, contributing subject matter expertise while considering scheduling and cost implications.

• Comprehend the client’s vision and convert it into actionable briefs.

• Assist in project delivery and ensure that client briefs are fulfilled.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least five (5) years of professional experience in event management and operations, or in the design and construction of spaces related to performing arts, events, executive briefing centers, experiential design, or hospitality and leisure.

• Proficient in reading construction drawings and specifications.

• A professional interest in construction projects.

• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in design management or client representation related to events or experiential spaces, or a formal qualification/degree in architecture, interior design, venue design, or a related field.

• Expertise in visual, written, and verbal communication regarding design issues.

• Practical knowledge of RIBA and AIA design stages and the typical information required at each stage.

• Capability to distill complex information and high-level concepts into clear, concise, and visually engaging presentations.

• Experience in experiential design, executive briefing programs, theater, performing arts, or event space construction.

• Demonstrated vision, leadership, and strategic abilities to prioritize shifting initiatives.

• Familiarity with construction terminology, building systems, and overall project sequencing/timing.

• Ability to influence decision-making and processing.

• Capacity to work collaboratively and swiftly with self-motivation and initiative.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient in managing multiple projects concurrently with minimal direct supervision.

• Detail-oriented, with a well-informed design sensibility and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

• Flexibility and adaptability to evolving business needs.

• Ability to foster relationships with colleagues, clients, vendors, stakeholders, and management.

• Availability for daily meetings during standard business hours in the GMT+8 time zone.
