Design Manager

📋 Description

• Oversee, mentor, and nurture Product Designers by establishing clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and offering significant growth opportunities.

• Foster a robust and collaborative Design culture, creating an environment where designers can excel in their work.

• Take ownership of and enhance Design operations, including team rituals, planning, processes, and working methodologies.

• Review design outputs and uphold high standards for craftsmanship, UX quality, and product thinking throughout the team.

• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering leaders to align teams, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery.

• Assist designers in navigating complex B2B product challenges while balancing user requirements, business goals, and technical limitations.

• Engage hands-on where it provides the most benefit while primarily concentrating on management and team effectiveness.

• Create frameworks, processes, and best practices that support the scaling of the Design organization.

• Define meaningful Design KPIs and OKRs to enhance the understanding and communication of Design's impact.

• Recognize capability gaps and contribute to shaping the future structure and hiring requirements of the Design organization.

• Success is measured by the establishment of a well-supported, efficient Design team that consistently delivers outstanding work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven Product Design leader with extensive people-management experience in a high-quality product organization.

• Demonstrated experience in managing and developing Product Designers through coaching, feedback, performance evaluations, and career advancement.

• Strong grasp of end-to-end Product Design processes.

• Hands-on craft expertise adequate to review work, challenge thought processes, and elevate the quality standards.

• Experience in working with complex B2B software solutions.

• Capability to collaborate effectively with Product Managers and Engineers.

• Exceptional communication skills to foster alignment across Design, Product, and Engineering teams.

• Strong operational mindset with a keen interest in optimizing processes, team rituals, and organizational workflows.

• Ability to balance leadership of people and project delivery with a long-term Design strategy.

• Proactive and self-sufficient approach.

• Passion for measuring Design's effectiveness and linking Design work to significant product and business outcomes.
