Design Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead cross-functional design initiatives encompassing architecture, structural, MEP, fire and life safety, low-voltage, security, DAS, and BMS/EPMS systems.

• Develop and uphold the Basis of Design in accordance with the Owner’s Project Requirements.

• Manage the design evolution through Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents phases.

• Set milestones, deliverables, and design budgets.

• Coordinate essential power and cooling infrastructure, including N+1 and 2N redundancy strategies.

• Supervise BIM and Revit coordination, clash detection, and constructability reviews.

• Ensure adherence to IBC, NFPA, ASHRAE, Uptime Institute criteria, and local AHJ requirements.

• Review submittals, shop drawings, and product data.

• Address RFIs and provide design clarifications and instructions.

• Assess change orders for scope and cost implications.

• Engage in site observations, OAC meetings, commissioning, project closeout, punch lists, and integrated systems testing.

• Manage design scope, fees, resources, schedules, risks, assumptions, and value engineering efforts.

• Act as the primary client liaison for design-related inquiries.

• Lead design reviews and coordinate approvals with authorities having jurisdiction and utilities.

• Communicate project status, risks, and significant decisions to stakeholders.

• Mentor and develop design staff.

• Establish and implement QA/QC processes.

• Create design standards, templates, and replicable solutions.

• Assist in consultant selection, scoping, and performance assessment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary design for data centers or mission-critical facilities.

• In-depth knowledge of building systems, including electrical, mechanical, and cooling infrastructure.

• Familiarity with IBC, NFPA, ASHRAE, and Uptime Institute Tier classifications.

• Experience with BIM and Revit coordination processes.

• Strong leadership, communication, and project management abilities.
