Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the complete UI/UX design process, from user flows and wireframes to high-fidelity, production-ready mockups and prototypes.

• Develop and enhance the design system, which includes components, patterns, and tokens.

• Simplify complex, regulated life-sciences workflows into user-friendly, intuitive, and accessible interfaces.

• Make definitive visual and interaction design choices based on user needs and product context.

• Create and deploy responsive, scalable web applications utilizing React and TypeScript.

• Establish component architecture and implement state management patterns.

• Enhance application performance for speed, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility.

• Integrate with REST/GraphQL APIs and manage complex asynchronous data flows.

• Collaborate with backend engineers to define API contracts and data specifications.

• Engage in code reviews, technical discussions, and product planning sessions.

• Contribute to frontend best practices, tooling, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Prototype innovative UI patterns and interactions.

• Keep abreast of trends in design and the frontend ecosystem, including AI/LLM-driven UX patterns.

• Assist with occasional backend tasks if possessing experience in Python/API.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 1–2 years of professional experience in designing and building frontend products.

• A portfolio showcasing production UI/UX work that was independently designed and delivered.

• Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, and JavaScript (ES6+).

• Proficient in a modern design tool, such as Figma.

• Comprehensive understanding of typography, layout, spacing, color, and interaction/motion design.

• Good grasp of state management, component architecture, and API integration.

• Experience in building or maintaining a design system is a plus.

• Basic backend knowledge, preferably in Python.

• Experience in app development.

• Familiarity with REST APIs and LLM/AI integrations in products.

• Exposure to testing frameworks like Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress.

• Strong focus on visual design and UI/UX performance.

• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across product and engineering teams.
