This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Direct key aspects of Cadence’s legal operations, encompassing commercial contracts, healthcare regulations, labor and employment, insurance, intellectual property, and associated strategic issues.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate a team of attorneys by establishing priorities, providing feedback, assessing performance, and participating in compensation review processes.
• Organize and facilitate legal team meetings, ensuring well-defined agendas, decision-making, project ownership, and effective follow-up.
• Monitor all legal team initiatives, deadlines, risks, dependencies, and responsibilities to guarantee the team operates with transparency and accountability.
• Supervise commercial contracting processes, focusing on enhancing completion times, stakeholder experiences, and the consistency of legal positions.
• Manage relationships with external counsel, including defining work scopes, assessing performance, tracking budgets, and ensuring expenditures align with business goals.
• Collaborate with the General Counsel on strategic risk decisions, determining when to escalate issues, accept risks, and communicate trade-offs to senior leadership.
• Work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer to ensure seamless coordination across legal, compliance, risk management, and governance areas.
• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Over 10 years of legal experience, including in-house leadership in a high-growth, regulated, healthcare, technology, or care delivery setting.
• Strong background in commercial contracts, healthcare regulatory issues, and legal operations.
• Familiarity with federal and state healthcare regulations, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, Civil Monetary Penalties Law, and clinical licensure and scope-of-practice requirements.
• Experience with HIPAA and privacy laws is advantageous.
• Background in contracting with payers is a plus.
• Proven ability to manage and develop attorneys, including prioritization, feedback, performance management, and team planning.
• Exceptional judgment regarding legal and business risks, capable of differentiating between theoretical and practical risks.
• Experience in managing external counsel and legal budgets.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where legal must be thorough, responsive, and commercially viable.
• Proficiency with AI research and productivity tools, and the capability to critically assess AI-driven insights, distinguishing valuable information from noise in a rapidly changing information landscape.
