This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee contract negotiations and manage risks for design and construction initiatives.

• Negotiate intricate design, EPC, design-build, and construction management agreements with clients and project collaborators.

• Prepare and modify agreements such as AIA, EJCDC, ConsensusDocs, DBIA, and those drafted by owners.

• Direct contract negotiations alongside the Executive Team, Project Leadership, and Procurement.

• Manage and update the firm's contract and template repository.

• Provide guidance to project teams on risk mitigation strategies, project selection, and delivery methods.

• Assist in business development through strategic contract approaches and direct client interactions.

• Navigate project teams through legal and risk considerations from project initiation to close-out.

• Handle dispute resolution processes, including discussions with clients, liens, mediation, arbitration, litigation, and settlements.

• Collaborate with insurers and external legal counsel on matters related to professional liability, builder's risk, and construction-specific insurance.

• Aid in licensing, corporate governance, and risk management strategies across Design Group entities.


⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

• Admitted to practice law in at least one state in the U.S.

• Over 5 years of legal experience in support of construction, commercial contracts, or project delivery.

• Proficient in drafting and negotiating design-build, EPC, and construction management contracts.

• Familiarity with construction insurance, including professional liability coverage.

• Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.

• Preferred: Experience in architecture, engineering, construction management, or EPC firms.

• Preferred: Background with AIA, EJCDC, ConsensusDocs, DBIA, or contracts drafted by owners.
