This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Administer and provide support for PostgreSQL hosted on AWS, which includes managing Amazon RDS/Aurora environments, monitoring, backups, snapshots, restorations, and regular maintenance.
• Oversee the retention, restoration, and refresh processes for database snapshots across production, lower environments, reporting schemas, and test environments.
• Offer database and migration assistance for significant application releases, encompassing schema modifications, data corrections, rollback strategies, and deployment verification.
• Continuously monitor database health, including storage, connections, locks, long-running queries, vacuum/analyze operations, and replication status.
• Execute advanced SQL performance tuning, focusing on query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plan assessments, and table upkeep.
• Resolve incidents and performance issues across databases, pipelines, and application connectivity.
• Oversee database security, including role management, access provisioning, and audit support.
• Design, construct, and maintain data pipelines utilizing Python, SQL, and AWS data services for data ingestion, transformation, migration, and reconciliation.
• Facilitate change data capture and streaming architectures employing AWS DMS, AWS Kinesis, Debezium, and Amazon MSK/Apache Kafka.
• Enable near real-time data transfer from PostgreSQL to reporting schemas, data lakes, Snowflake, and Databricks.
• Create automation scripts for data movement, validation, reconciliation, and operational support.
• Collaborate with application, DevOps, data platform, reporting/analytics, QA, and business teams.
• Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of data quality concerns.
• Provide support for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Center for Program Integrity Unified Case Management system.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL administration, including monitoring, backup/restore operations, snapshots, and environment refreshes.
• Proficiency in advanced SQL and performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
• Skilled in Python for data engineering, automation, and pipeline development.
• Must have resided in the United States for at least three out of the last five years.
• Availability during core hours, Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM EST.
• NACI (T1) public trust requirement.
• No current security clearance is required.
• No certification is necessary.
• Preferred: Experience with CDC/streaming using AWS DMS, AWS Kinesis, Debezium, Amazon MSK/Apache Kafka; familiarity with logical replication, WAL, and replication slot management.
• Preferred: Experience in data pipeline design and operations for data ingestion, transformation, migration, and near real-time movement into Snowflake, Databricks, or data lakes.
• Preferred: Ability to troubleshoot performance across databases, SQL, pipelines, and integrations; experience in release-related database scripting/support.
• Preferred: Knowledge of ETL/ELT tools, orchestration/workflow automation, shell scripting, Git, CI/CD, and Agile/Scrum or SAFe methodologies.
• Preferred: Understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata/lineage, and reconciliation processes.
• Preferred: Experience with regulated enterprise systems, including those in healthcare, government, or financial sectors.
