Database Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Java development teams throughout the product design and development phases to ensure optimal utilization of SQL Server for storage and transaction processing.

• Write, enhance, and optimize T-SQL code for improved performance, reliability, and maintainability.

• Analyze intricate requirements and convert them into effective backend processes.

• Reverse-engineer legacy code and enhance older T-SQL using modern techniques.

• Design and implement relational databases and their structures.

• Develop storage design frameworks and data processing workflows.

• Create documentation for both new and existing code.

• Advocate for best practices, assist in defining procedures, and foster innovation and knowledge transfer across the organization.

• Primarily work independently under general supervision.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2-4+ years of experience as a database engineer or in a related role.

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in T-SQL, including experience in query tuning and optimization.

• Familiarity with reporting platforms and the ability to translate business requirements into functional and efficient T-SQL-driven reports.

• SQL Server Administration experience is advantageous.

• ETL experience is a plus.

• In-depth knowledge of SSMS and a working understanding of other MS SQL Server tools.

• Capacity to adapt to various workflows, including Agile methodologies.

• Strong and demonstrable understanding of database development best practices and coding standards.

• Experience with source control and workflow ticketing systems.

• Familiarity with IDERA for SQL Server tools, including Diagnostic Manager and Admin Toolset.

• Experience with SQL monitoring tools (Idera, SolarWinds, etc.) is a plus.

• Knowledge of or experience with advanced SQL Server features, such as Service Broker, Resource Governor, temporal tables, Query Store, Always On, and Stretch Database.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in the domain.

• Availability for occasional off-hour, evening, weekend, and/or overtime work.
