This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and predictive modeling to deliver actionable insights and strategic guidance.
• Analyze, manipulate, and process extensive data sets.
• Create predictive and machine learning models utilizing both structured and unstructured data.
• Identify techniques for ongoing and automated statistical testing to improve the predictability of deployed models.
• Implement feature selection algorithms and sampling methods.
• Evaluate models using statistical performance metrics.
• Generate graphs, charts, and visualizations to effectively communicate analytical findings.
• Present results of mathematical modeling and data analysis both orally and in writing to stakeholders.
• Recognize business issues, objectives, relationships, trends, and factors influencing research outcomes.
• Suggest solutions to business challenges based on data analysis outcomes.
• Test, validate, and refine models for precise predictions.
• Develop functions or applications to perform analyses.
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers to implement relevant models.
• Organize project phases, estimate timelines, and convey them to the project manager.
• Guide project teams on application enhancements for improved predictive and prescriptive modeling.
• Establish and promote best practices in statistical or behavioral modeling.
• Lead the collection of new data and the enhancement of existing data sources.
• Work alongside engineering and product teams on the internal data platform.
• Mentor and train junior data scientists.
• 3 years of experience handling large data sets in Hadoop, AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
• 3 years of experience with statistical and data mining tools and methodologies.
• 3 years of experience with supervised models, including regression and neural networks, as well as unsupervised techniques such as clustering, PCA, and SVMs.
• 3 years of experience working with SQL.
• 3 years of experience in Python and at least one strongly typed programming language, such as C++ or Java.
• 3 years of experience utilizing statistical packages.
• 3 years of experience delivering predictive and prescriptive analytics within a business context.
• Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Advanced proficiency in data visualization libraries.
• Advanced understanding of statistical methodologies for modeling and business analytics.
