Data Governance Lead – Data Catalog

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead governance workstreams and manage small delivery teams to create and execute actionable, sustainable data/AI governance programs.

• Cultivate client relationships for the workstream by setting expectations, facilitating executive discussions, and fostering alignment among business, IT, privacy, security, and legal stakeholders.

• Provide advice, presentations, implementation, and operation of new Collibra Data Catalog instances.

• Deliver hands-on support for Collibra implementation, prioritizing key features and managing work scope.

• Design and establish governance operating models, which include councils, data stewardship frameworks, escalation paths, and integrated controls across data, analytics, and AI.

• Develop implementation roadmaps that link strategy to execution, addressing sequencing, dependencies, change management, and measurable adoption outcomes.

• Establish AI governance and responsible AI frameworks, including inventories, risk workflows, review boards, documentation standards, third-party oversight, and compliance reporting.

• Implement tactical and functional data governance operations and controls.

• Transform governance requirements into scalable solutions through templates, playbooks, training, and communications.

• Assist in business growth and initiatives through proposal development, scoping, staffing plans, and reusable assets and accelerators.

• Travel as necessary based on client and project demands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “PUBLIC TRUST”.

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience with increasing responsibility, including workstream leadership and oversight of junior staff.

• Proven experience leading client workstreams from start to finish, including planning, facilitation, issue resolution, and executive communication.

• Experience in configuring, architecting, advising, and executing hands-on implementation of the Collibra Data Catalog platform.

• Background in shaping roadmaps and operating models that link governance to delivery, adoption, and measurable outcomes.

• Experience delivering consulting or client-facing work, including workshops, written deliverables, and stakeholder management.

• Knowledge of AI governance concepts such as model risk considerations, transparency and documentation, monitoring, and responsible AI practices.

• Willingness to travel as needed based on client and project requirements.

• Experience in supporting governance programs in public sector, transportation, and/or other regulated environments.

• Understanding of data governance fundamentals, including data stewardship, data lifecycle, metadata, data quality, privacy, and access controls.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce polished, client-ready outputs.

• Capability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, Alation, Informatica, OneTrust, Immuta, Datadog, or similar platforms.

• Experience integrating Collibra with other platforms, including Databricks (Unity Catalog), and onboarding data assets into the data catalog and metadata ecosystem.

• Experience in designing or facilitating AI literacy, adoption, and change management initiatives, including training plans and communications.

• Familiarity with Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, lakehouse architectures, and data products.

• Certifications in data governance, privacy, security, cloud, or analytics are preferred.
