Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Develop, maintain, enhance, and operationalize machine learning frameworks to assess the influence of business activities on Petco’s omnichannel operations.

• Design new data pipelines utilizing cutting-edge technologies that integrate with various Petco databases.

• Extract, synthesize, and present essential data to address specific inquiries or enhance system performance.

• Identify scalable opportunities through historical data analysis and collaborate with business stakeholders to evaluate their impact.

• Enhance methodologies by creating new data sources, testing model improvements, and fine-tuning model parameters.

• Specify requirements for analytical capabilities, platforms, and pipelines.

• Utilize statistical and machine learning expertise to tackle business challenges.

• Communicate insights and recommendations to audiences with diverse levels of technical knowledge.

• Employ Python, R, and SQL for data analysis and modeling algorithms.

• Monitor and evaluate KPIs across various business domains.

• Mentor data scientists and associate data scientists.

• Document objectives, statistical models, and outcomes.

• Independently prioritize and complete multiple tasks within set timeframes.

• Carry out other related responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• MS/PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.

• Proven experience applying Machine Learning/Deep Learning to real-world problems is essential.

• Over 2 years of experience in business analytics and data science.

• Proficient in SQL.

• Strong proficiency with various analytical tools is required; Python or R is highly preferred.

• Practical experience with BI tools such as Tableau, R Shiny, or Looker.

• Ability to articulate and present complex analytical methodologies and results to non-technical audiences.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Strong quantitative modeling, statistical analysis, and problem-solving abilities.

• Must be self-motivated and passionate about retail and customer-centricity.

• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize tasks, and achieve results in a dynamic environment.

• Relevant experience in a retail organization is a significant advantage.
