Data Science Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct analysis activities to uncover anomalies and determine their root causes.

• Suggest and implement validations to programmatically detect anomalous conditions.

• Recommend techniques to normalize data, execute them, verify accuracy, and iterate until an acceptable level of precision is achieved.

• Enhance the accuracy of derived datasets and data products.

• Acquaint yourself with Wurl’s datasets and their applications.

• Provide support to the Data Science and Machine Learning team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated academic success in fields related to data analytics.

• A PhD or MSc is preferred; a BSc with a high GPA, multiple majors, or significant projects will be considered.

• Degree specialization in Data Science, AI/ML, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.

• Understanding of graph algorithms and network analysis.

• Experience with large-scale data analysis.

• Familiarity with data quality and anomaly detection.

• Experience in agentic/AI-assisted software development.

• Knowledge of distributed data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks.

• Proficient in Python and SQL.

• Understanding of applied statistics and probability.

• Fundamentals of machine learning.

• Knowledge of experimental design and causal reasoning.

• Skills in optimization and decision-making under uncertainty.

• Ability to write clean and maintainable analytical code.

• Essential experience in non-agentic development.

• Capability to evaluate models beyond surface-level metrics.

• Experience transitioning from research concepts to prototypes and validated outcomes.

• Proficiency in translating ambiguous challenges into mathematical or statistical formulations.

• Strong intuition regarding uncertainty, bias, variance, and noisy data.

• Excellent quantitative reasoning and mathematical expertise.

• Advanced problem-solving skills in analytical contexts.

• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis capabilities.

• Ability to quickly formulate and test hypotheses.

• High intellectual curiosity, ownership, initiative, and independent thought.

• Effective communication skills and a collaborative team player.
