Data Science Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Engage in a paid internship in Strategic Analytics at EMC Insurance during Summer 2027.

• Develop data science solutions with guidance and oversight.

• Collect both structured and unstructured data to form modeling datasets.

• Clean and prepare data for analysis.

• Conduct exploratory data analysis to evaluate data quality and uncover relationships, patterns, and trends.

• Present analysis findings to a supervisor for evaluation.

• Familiarize yourself with EMC and the departmental culture, organizational structure, and functions across various branches.

• Investigate and propose at least one emerging technology or innovation.

• Gain insight into insurance operations, ratemaking, statistical analysis, data management, and programming.

• Major in data science, actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or finance.

• Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.

• Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in property casualty insurance.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Analytical mindset.

• Proficient organizational skills.

• Capable of sound decision-making and problem-solving.

• Keen attention to detail.

• Good computer proficiency.

• Completion of junior year is preferred.
