Data Product Owner – 12-month contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop, uphold, and implement the 12-month data product roadmap.

• Ensure alignment of feature delivery across data pipelines, semantic layers, and BI tools with Tiko’s strategic goals.

• Convert cross-functional requirements into user stories, technical acceptance criteria, and data contracts.

• Oversee sprint refinement and manage delivery pacing.

• Serve as the main point of contact between business stakeholders and the Data Engineering, Analytics, and Architecture teams.

• Promote data tool utilization and ensure consistency in metrics.

• Confirm that data products address significant operational challenges and meet real-world user demands.

• Balance technical debt with business requests while effectively communicating trade-offs.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in a Product Owner or Product Manager role, specifically focused on Data Products, Analytics, or Data Infrastructure.

• Solid understanding of modern data stack concepts, including SQL, data pipelines, dbt semantic layers, and BI platforms such as Tableau or Lightdash.

• Demonstrated experience in leading backlog grooming, sprint planning, and user story formulation for technical or data-focused teams.

• Outstanding ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and relay technical constraints to executive stakeholders.

• Fully available for a dedicated 12-month fixed-term engagement.

• Proficient in written and verbal English communication skills.
