This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Establish the vision and roadmap for data products, including data platforms, analytical tools, and machine learning infrastructure.
• Analyze the data landscape, identify pain points, and assess business needs to uncover high-value opportunities.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and relevant stakeholders to align data product strategy with organizational priorities and long-term data architecture.
• Link data capabilities to business results and coordinate efforts to achieve those objectives.
• Synchronize engineering, analytics, and business teams; utilize metrics to direct prioritization and product development.
• Oversee the complete lifecycle of data products, encompassing requirements gathering, design, development, testing, launch, and iteration.
• Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to create scalable pipelines, models, and data services.
• Ensure adherence to data quality, governance, lineage, documentation, reliability, and scalability standards.
• Convert business logic into data transformations, metadata, and domain-specific rules.
• Act as the main point of contact between technical teams at Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) and business partners within DCYF.
• Convey product value, roadmap, and use cases to leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Manage incoming requests and balance diverse needs across teams.
• Define success metrics and evaluate product performance and adoption.
• Guarantee that data products provide actionable insights and facilitate decision-making.
• Collaborate with analytics teams to develop dashboards, KPIs, and reporting frameworks.
• Maintain data governance, privacy, and ethical AI standards.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational data policies.
• Promote responsible data usage across the human services sectors supported by DCYF and MNIT DCYF.
• Conduct knowledge transfer.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data management, data analytics, data engineering, or related disciplines.
• Proven product leadership abilities and capacity to navigate ambiguity: 5+ years.
• In-depth knowledge of data systems, including pipelines, warehousing, modeling, metadata, and governance: 5+ years.
• Proficient in collaborating with data architecture, data engineering, and data science teams: 5+ years.
• Capability to translate complex technical terms into business-friendly language: 5+ years.
• Strong skills in communication, prioritization, and stakeholder management: 5+ years.
• Experience with analytical tools such as dbt, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, and Google Analytics: 5+ years.
• Understanding of constraints related to large organizational data sharing and data sharing agreements: 5+ years.
• Proficiency in SQL, data lakes, and data pipelines/ETL: 5+ years.
• Extensive experience with Databricks: 5+ years.
• Familiarity with Java and Python: 5+ years.
• Background in developing internal platforms or developer-facing products: 5+ years.
• Experience in implementing modern data architectures within an organization: 5+ years.
• Background in a highly regulated industry conducting statistical analysis and reporting: 5+ years.
