Data Governance, Quality Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Oversee and integrate data quality controls throughout the entire data lifecycle, from initial ingestion to bronze, silver, and gold medallion layers, culminating in reports, dashboards, and automated business processes.

• Create and execute data quality validation checks within Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric ingestion pipelines.

• Establish critical-field service level agreements (SLAs), quality standards, acceptance criteria, escalation protocols, and automated stop/alert/continue mechanisms.

• Assist in the onboarding of new data feeds, targeting a 45-day completion timeline.

• Draft and update quality standards across medallion transformations and conduct cross-source reconciliation audits.

• Verify standardized formats, account mappings, the encryption of personally identifiable information (PII) elements, and enforcement of row-level security.

• Confirm the integrity of direct-to-gold payroll and invoice feeds utilizing handshake, reconciliation, and audit-trail assessments.

• Design and sustain data quality scorecards and KPI dashboards using Microsoft Purview and/or Power BI.

• Carry out periodic reconciliation audits against source-of-record systems.

• Implement a mandatory validation checkpoint for the release of new or revised Power BI reports before they go into production, utilizing AI-driven semantic-model profiling.

• Align business glossaries for reporting attributes within Microsoft Purview.

• Manage master data entities in Profisee, including matching, merging, survivorship rules, and maintaining golden records.

• Ensure that mastered identifiers are propagated throughout medallion layers and downstream applications.

• Keep Microsoft Purview catalog entries, glossary terms, classifications, sensitivity tags, lineage, and change history up to date.

• Contribute to governance for external data providers and maintain audit-trail documentation for mapping changes, overrides, vendor setups, and store transfers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Data Management, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

• 3–5 years of practical experience in data quality, data governance, or data management roles.

• Experience with a master data management (MDM) platform; Profisee experience is highly preferred.

• Expertise in Microsoft Purview (or a comparable data catalog/lineage tool) for metadata management, classification, and governance.

• Strong SQL proficiency for data profiling, quality rule development, and ad-hoc investigations.

• Experience in creating data quality dashboards and scorecards using Power BI.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric for data engineering and analytics tasks.

• Familiarity with medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) data design patterns, including scenarios where certain feeds bypass bronze/silver layers and directly reach the gold layer.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure data services (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake/Lakehouse).

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to convey technical quality findings in a business-friendly manner.
