Data Governance and Platform Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of monitoring data quality and freshness across source data, pipelines, and reports.

• Identify upstream schema and source changes prior to downstream failures and manage incidents to resolution.

• Develop and maintain processes for data lineage and impact analysis from production sources through warehouse models to dashboards.

• Establish data contracts with engineering teams to ensure breaking changes are identified during the change review process.

• Oversee Lightdash administration, including workspace structure, permissions, certification, naming conventions, rollout, enablement, query performance, and warehouse cost management.

• Enhance and manage the semantic layer by ensuring one official definition per metric.

• Govern Segment event tracking, which includes managing the event catalog, naming conventions, property dictionary, review lifecycle, and drift detection.

• Supervise AI data access, ensuring that the warehouse remains documented, consistent, understandable, and secure for AI agents.

• Manage data security and privacy aspects, including access controls, handling of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), retention in compliance with US state privacy laws, and conducting periodic access reviews.

• Create documentation, ownership models, and review processes for an effective governance system.

• Expand AI-driven freshness monitoring, anomaly detection, and dbt lineage checks.

• Achieve Year 1 objectives, including eliminating incidents from unexpected source changes and outdated dashboards, decommissioning Tableau and Metabase, ensuring ownership and standards for Segment events, and developing governance processes that function without requiring extraordinary effort.

⛳️ Requirements

• A genuine passion for data governance and the desire to create trustworthy and organized data systems.

• Daily engagement with AI tools like Claude Code, Copilot, and ChatGPT for quality assurance, automation, anomaly management, and documentation.

• Extensive hands-on experience in writing SQL, debugging Airflow Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs), and configuring permissions.

• A focus on automation for recurring checks.

• Capability to enforce standards among engineers and analysts without direct managerial authority.

• In-depth practical knowledge of the warehouse and pipeline layers.

• Proven experience in maintaining a Business Intelligence (BI) tool and tracking plan effectively at a company scale.

• Relevant experience with Redshift, dbt, Airflow, Segment, Lightdash, Tableau, Metabase, Claude Code, Codex, Brain, and observability tools pertinent to the role.
