Data Governance Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Assist in the development, implementation, and upkeep of the CMM Data Governance framework, including policies, standards, procedures, and operational models.

• Define, document, and sustain data standards, naming conventions, data definitions, data structures, reference data, and governance requirements.

• Create and uphold standards that align with enterprise architecture, security, privacy, records management, and regulatory obligations.

• Establish models for data ownership, stewardship, accountability, and decision rights.

• Collaborate with Data Stewards, Data Owners, business stakeholders, security, privacy, legal, records management, and technology teams.

• Classify and manage data assets based on their sensitivity, criticality, and business value.

• Convert policies and regulatory requirements into actionable governance controls and procedures.

• Identify governance gaps, risks, and instances of non-compliance, and coordinate remediation efforts.

• Facilitate data access, sharing, usage, and lifecycle governance.

• Engage in governance councils, working groups, and data domain forums.

• Create governance documentation, standards, procedures, decision logs, and supporting artifacts.

• Monitor the adoption and effectiveness of governance policies and standards.

• Support assessments, audits, and compliance reviews.

• Contribute to governance roadmaps, maturity assessments, and initiatives for continuous improvement.

• Define roles, responsibilities, and RACI models for data ownership.

• Develop training materials and conduct awareness sessions.

• Track, analyze, and report governance metrics, maturity, and compliance status to leadership and governance councils.

⛳️ Requirements

• MA/MS degree with over 5 years of general experience in information systems and more than 7 years of specialized experience.

• Over 8 years of related experience.

• Experience in supporting enterprise data governance initiatives.

• Proven ability to translate governance policies into practical operational processes within delivery environments.

• Strong comprehension of data quality management, metadata practices, and stewardship models.

• Experience managing high-sensitivity or regulated data with defined compliance expectations.

• Familiarity with data quality profiling and monitoring techniques along with common tooling patterns.

• Experience in defining and governing enterprise data standards across various teams and delivery pods.

• Robust background in data modeling, integration patterns, and change data capture concepts.

• Proficient with metadata and catalog tools such as Collibra, Alation, or Qlik.

• Practical experience in implementing glossary and lineage capabilities within modern data platforms.

• Ability to translate technical metadata into user-friendly definitions and documentation.

• Experience in implementing data privacy controls in regulated or high-sensitivity settings.

• Familiarity with access management and operationalizing privacy requirements.

• Ability to collaborate with security, governance, and engineering teams to ensure compliant data sharing.

• Preferred: Experience in Federal Government or regulated settings.

• Preferred: Familiarity with enterprise data governance frameworks and operational models.

• Preferred: Data management certification.

• No security clearance required.
