This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Collaborate closely with the IS Architecture team to enhance and optimize the Data Warehouse architecture.
• Streamline data collection processes, data flows, and distributed data access.
• Design and construct data pipelines and data integrations.
• Assist software developers, data analysts, database administrators, and data scientists with data-related initiatives.
• Develop and manage integration tools, databases, warehouses, and analytical systems utilizing programming, ETL tools, and data virtualization.
• Create processes for data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependencies, and workload management.
• Extract, transform, and load structured, unstructured, and big data from various sources.
• Develop data tools to support analytics and data science teams.
• Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modeling purposes.
• Support analytics, machine learning, and the deployment of predictive models.
• Assemble complex data sets that meet both functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Create scalable data pipelines and API integrations.
• Develop analytics tools that provide insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and business performance.
• Enhance data models used by business intelligence tools to foster data-driven decision-making.
• Oversee data quality, availability, protection controls, and ecosystem performance.
• Contribute to the creation of engineering and architectural documentation.
• Assess reliability and performance across the data ecosystem through testing.
• Lead projects and ensure delivery while adhering to DevOps procedures and communicating progress effectively.
• Manage data access and disposal requests, coordinating necessary remediation activities.
• Identify and implement process enhancements, automation, and scalable infrastructure redesigns.
• Develop key performance indicators and conduct annual Data Architectural Maturity assessments.
• Provide education and mentorship on data engineering best practices.
• Analyze industry trends to enhance data engineering methodologies.
• Participate in audits, data prioritization meetings, and stakeholder discussions.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Over 4 years of experience in data engineering management, with expertise in Python or Java, SQL, and data modeling.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and machine learning tools.
• Strong comprehension of data science principles.
• Exceptional communication and teamwork capabilities.
• Proven ability to lead teams, train others, and operate independently.
• Self-motivated, well-organized, and analytical in approach.
• Strong skills in project management, organization, and time management.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Proficient in documentation, facilitation, and negotiation.
• Effective in collaborating with and influencing stakeholders across all levels.
• Ability to tackle complex problems and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Willingness to learn about the business environment.
• The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal background check, reference check, and credit check.
• Occasional travel to Edmonton, Calgary, or Red Deer may be required.
