Data Engineer – SAP Datasphere, Power BI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop consistent and reusable data models utilizing around 150 raw SAP tables within SAP Datasphere.

• Establish a semantic data foundation, commencing with Sales and subsequently expanding to Operations and Supply Chain.

• Request necessary tables from the internal IT department.

• Collaborate with internal IT and the implementation partner for data provisioning.

• Consider extraction logic and delta management.

• Conduct plausibility checks and validate SAP outputs.

• Create the initial centralized management dashboards using Power BI.

• Implement established KPIs and dimensions, including the data model and DAX.

• Prepare data models for self-service reporting by business units.

• In the future, incorporate additional sources like Excel/CSV files from production through SharePoint and SAP IBP.

• Define naming conventions and modeling standards.

• Document data models, data flows, and definitions thoroughly.

• Assist in KPI governance and maintain consistent metric definitions.

• Mentor a working student.

• Transition the setup to the future internal Lead Data & Analytics.

• Ensure the delivery of a reliable sales report by December 31, 2026, at the latest, and assist in replacing the legacy system by February 1, 2027.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of practical experience in data modeling with SAP Datasphere.

• Successfully deployed at least one SAP Datasphere project into production.

• Practical experience with Data Builder, views, replication and transformation flows, analytic models, task chains, and data access controls.

• Proficient in interpreting SAP data structures from ECC/R3.

• Knowledgeable in SAP SD and MM, including the mapping of relevant tables.

• Understanding of data extraction processes from SAP ERP.

• Strong SQL proficiency.

• Solid skills in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, connectivity to SAP Datasphere, and creating functional dashboards.

• Experience in developing reporting solutions from the ground up.

• Willingness to question implausible or unreasonable requirements.

• Nice to have: Experience in mid-sized manufacturing firms or the food sector.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with sales and supply chain KPIs, particularly delivery reliability and OTIF.

• Nice to have: Knowledge of SAP IBP.

• Nice to have: Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud or BW/BW4HANA as a source system.

• Nice to have: Experience in enabling internal teams.
