This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, implement, and provide support for cloud-native data solutions utilizing Microsoft Azure.

• Create and sustain scalable data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration pipelines.

• Develop and maintain integrations with internal applications, third-party vendors, clients, healthcare partners, and external data trading partners.

• Design and execute APIs, file exchange processes, and system-to-system integrations.

• Collaborate with Application Engineers on data access patterns, integration architectures, and reusable data services.

• Create and manage operational data models.

• Build and support Azure-based storage platforms, databases, and data services.

• Develop secure data exchange processes using APIs, flat files, SFTP, EDI, healthcare interoperability standards, and various other methods.

• Support real-time and near-real-time data processing.

• Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, and recovery processes.

• Troubleshoot data quality, integration, performance, and reliability issues.

• Develop automation solutions to enhance reliability and operational efficiency.

• Maintain documentation for integrations, data flows, APIs, pipelines, and technologies.

• Participate in architecture discussions and propose enhancements for scalability, reliability, performance, interoperability, and security.

• Utilize source control, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.

• Ensure adherence to healthcare security standards and regulatory requirements.

• Support AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics initiatives with trusted data assets.

• Stay updated with Azure services and contemporary data engineering practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

• A minimum of five years of professional experience in data engineering, data integration, application development, or a related technical field.

• Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and advanced SQL development.

• Experience in building and supporting ETL/ELT processes and large-scale data integrations.

• Experience in designing and implementing cloud-based solutions within Microsoft Azure.

• Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Storage Accounts, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, or similar Azure services.

• Experience in developing and consuming RESTful APIs and contemporary integration technologies.

• Strong understanding of relational database design, data integration patterns, and data lifecycle management.

• Experience with source control and DevOps platforms such as Azure DevOps and Git.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues involving data movement, integrations, and system interoperability.

• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.

• Preferred: experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, or similar cloud data platforms.

• Preferred: experience supporting healthcare, pharmacy benefit management, claims processing, or highly regulated industries.

• Preferred: familiarity with HIPAA, PHI, PII, and healthcare data security requirements.

• Preferred: experience with FHIR, HL7, NCPDP, or EDI transactions.

• Preferred: experience with Python, PowerShell, C#, or other scripting and automation technologies.

• Preferred: experience with event-driven architectures, messaging platforms, and asynchronous integration patterns.

• Preferred: familiarity with Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hubs, or related technologies.

• Preferred: experience supporting machine learning, AI, or advanced analytics initiatives.

• Preferred: experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Devin, or Windsurf.

• Preferred: experience operating within Agile or iterative software delivery environments.
