Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain Spark and SparkSQL jobs that populate the company's data models.

• Take ownership of well-defined pipelines from start to finish, encompassing requirements gathering, deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvements.

• Contribute to frameworks focused on data quality, testing, and data lineage tracking.

• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, product managers, and engineers to transform data requirements into sustainable models.

• Enhance datamarts and data models that support ongoing reporting and analysis across various products.

• Increase the reliability and cost-effectiveness of existing pipelines, dashboards, and frameworks.

• Engage in a business-hours on-call rotation and assist in the enhancement of runbooks and alerting processes.

• Construct and manage pipelines and data models utilized by Dropbox to gain insights into its products and business operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of development experience in Spark, Python, Java, C++, or Scala.

• At least 2 years of SQL experience, including expertise in query performance optimization.

• Over 2 years of experience in schema design and dimensional data modeling.

• Proven experience in building and maintaining production data pipelines that are relied upon by others.

• Familiarity with cloud data lake or lakehouse platforms, preferably Databricks.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with non-engineering stakeholders, along with a history of seeking help and feedback proactively.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field that involves programming, or equivalent technical experience.
