This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable batch and real-time data pipelines utilizing modern cloud technologies.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to implement data-driven features and services that support the safety mission.
• Assist with ETL/ELT processes, as well as manage data lake, data warehouse, and data lakehouse environments.
• Guarantee data quality, reliability, and observability through effective monitoring, alerting, and documentation practices.
• Engage in architectural discussions and contribute to the long-term strategy for the data platform.
• Work alongside product, engineering, analytics, and data science teams.
• Facilitate the productionization of models, ensure the quality of training data, and establish reliable data feeds for analytical and predictive applications.
• A degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Over 3 years of experience in a Data Engineering position.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture and technologies like Apache Kafka or Amazon MSK.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD best practices across multi-environment deployment workflows.
• Practical experience with Terraform and GitHub Actions.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or PagerDuty.
• Proficient in ETL/ELT and orchestration tools, including AWS Glue Studio, Matillion, and AWS Step Functions.
• Expertise in AWS data services such as Redshift, EMR, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, and MSK.
• Strong command of SQL, Python, Java, and/or Scala.
• A pragmatic problem-solving mindset and a passion for facilitating enhanced decision-making through data.
• Recognition of the importance of clean architecture and thorough documentation.
• Ability to thrive in agile teams and collaborate effectively with product, engineering, and analytics partners.
• Experience with data modeling and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, Amazon Q Developer, and GitHub Copilot.
