Data Center Commissioning Agent

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage Level 0–5 commissioning activities encompassing the entire MEP/site scope.

• Direct commissioning efforts from the planning phase and construction through functional testing, integrated systems testing, and final turnover.

• Create, manage, and uphold MEP commissioning schedules, milestones, and deliverables.

• Align commissioning processes with the overall construction timeline and site logistics.

• Collaborate with owners, general contractors, design teams, subcontractors, trade partners, and project stakeholders to meet milestones.

• Supervise subcontractors and trade partners involved in MEP installation, testing, and commissioning.

• Engage in inspections, quality control activities, system readiness evaluations, and commissioning meetings.

• Review MEP submittals, drawings, specifications, RFIs, and project documentation.

• Formulate, monitor, review, and implement MOPs and commissioning procedures.

• Coordinate QA/QC efforts and ensure that deficiencies are recorded, monitored, and resolved.

• Track CFCI/OFCI equipment and materials throughout installation, testing, and turnover phases.

• Organize asset tagging and equipment documentation.

• Manage documentation related to commissioning, test records, punch lists, deficiency logs, and turnover packages.

• Assist in the startup, testing, and commissioning of HVAC, chilled water, electrical infrastructure, and other essential MEP systems.

• Identify issues related to commissioning, construction, scheduling, and systems, and organize corrective measures.

• Monitor project advancement and communicate risks, schedule impacts, and commissioning readiness.

• Facilitate closeout activities and the final turnover of MEP systems to the owner.

• Ensure that commissioning adheres to project specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and owner expectations.

• Aid in delivering complex data center projects quantified in megawatts and large square footage.

• Maintain effective communication and collaboration among the owner, general contractor, design team, commissioning team, and field personnel.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred.

• Equivalent education coupled with extensive relevant industry experience may be considered.

• Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), CxA, or other relevant commissioning or industry certification is preferred but not mandatory.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in MEP and/or data center commissioning is required.

• Proven experience in hyperscale, mission-critical, or large-scale data center projects is essential.

• Experience in leading or managing the entire MEP/site scope of a project is necessary.

• Familiarity with ground-up data center construction is required.

• Experience with data center fit-outs, expansions, renovations, or upgrades is beneficial.

• Proven experience in Level 0–5 commissioning is mandatory.

• Experience managing large projects measured in MW and significant square footage is essential.

• Direct experience working for or alongside large General Contractors is preferred.

• Strong expertise in HVAC and mechanical systems is required.

• Demonstrated experience with chilled water systems is essential.

• Strong comprehension of electrical infrastructure and critical power systems is necessary.

• Experience coordinating MEP construction, commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover activities is required.

• Proven ability to manage subcontractors, trade partners, and multiple project stakeholders is essential.

• Experience with MOP development, tracking, and execution is necessary.

• Familiarity with QA/QC, inspections, submittal review, RFI review, deficiency tracking, closeout, and turnover processes is required.

• Strong understanding of MEP systems and data center commissioning processes is mandatory.

• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, mechanical, and electrical infrastructure is required.

• Knowledge of Level 0–5 commissioning methodologies and testing standards is essential.

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation is crucial.

• Strong understanding of MEP construction sequencing and commissioning readiness requirements is necessary.

• Capability to manage project schedules, milestones, and commissioning deliverables is essential.

• Proficiency in developing, reviewing, and executing MOPs and commissioning procedures is required.

• Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes and deficiency management is essential.

• Ability to review submittals and RFIs and identify potential impacts on commissioning and project execution is crucial.

• Ability to effectively coordinate subcontractors, trade partners, owners, GCs, design teams, and commissioning teams is necessary.

• Strong organizational and project management skills are essential.

• Ability to identify project risks and develop effective solutions is crucial.

• Ability to work in active construction and data center environments is required.

• Capability to walk and work across large construction sites for extended periods is necessary.

• Ability to climb stairs and ladders and access mechanical and electrical equipment areas is essential.

• Capacity to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and navigate around construction and equipment areas is required.

• Ability to lift and carry over 25 lbs. is necessary.

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential.

• Capacity to work in varying environmental conditions, including construction areas with noise, dust, heat, and other site conditions is required.

• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed is essential.
