Data Architect – Temporary

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Oversee the evaluation from a technical standpoint.

• Ensure the consistency of diagnoses and act as Valtech’s technical representative during discussions with the client's IT leadership.

• Facilitate the technical kickoff, aligning on scope, assumptions, and success metrics.

• Develop the assessment strategy for each dimension along with the interview framework.

• Determine the necessary access, data extracts, and artifacts, including timelines.

• Conduct interviews with IT leadership, architecture teams, and vendors.

• Supervise the efforts of the Data Engineer and Data Analyst, ensuring depth and prioritization are validated.

• Evaluate architecture, layers, orchestration, environments, modeling standards, and associated costs.

• Consolidate the triangulation of stated, observed, and documented information.

• Assign and rationalize maturity scores across the eight dimensions.

• Identify root causes, differentiating symptoms from structural issues.

• Map the current state and design the conceptual reference architecture.

• Deliver the interim readout and the final executive presentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be available for a temporary role lasting one month, with a commitment of 10 hours per week.

• Demonstrated experience with contemporary data architecture, including lakehouses, medallion layers or equivalents, orchestration, dimensional modeling, and historization.

• Practical experience with Databricks in a production setting.

• Strong understanding of data governance, covering ownership, cataloging, lineage, access management, and change management.

• Prior experience in conducting assessments, due diligence engagements, or maturity diagnostics, including producing executive-level deliverables.

• Capability to engage in technical discussions with IT executives and translate architecture into business consequences.

• Familiarity with LGPD as it relates to data architecture.
