This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +1 more state.
• Create and uphold scalable data architectures that support intricate enterprise applications and business workflows.
• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models, encompassing data structures, relationships, schemas, and standards.
• Craft data solutions for Appian applications, including data repositories, record types, data synchronization, and integrations with external data sources.
• Specify the methods for storing, accessing, integrating, and exchanging application data across Appian and external record systems.
• Design and enhance relational database solutions and intricate SQL queries.
• Collaborate with Appian architects, developers, and integration teams on technical designs and navigate complex data and application architecture challenges.
• Assess existing data structures and propose enhancements for scalability, performance, maintainability, and data quality.
• Create data integrations utilizing APIs, web services, and various enterprise integration patterns.
• Establish and advocate for standards concerning data integrity, security, access controls, metadata, and data governance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to applications, databases, integrations, and performance.
• Engage in architecture and technical design reviews, ensuring compliance with program and federal technology standards.
• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, serving as a subject matter expert in data architecture and Appian-related data solutions.
• Work in collaboration with federal client stakeholders to comprehend requirements, assess technical options, and convey architecture recommendations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Over 10 years of experience in software development, application architecture, data architecture, database engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Extensive experience in designing data solutions for complex enterprise applications.
• Strong background in relational database technologies, SQL, data modeling, database design, and performance optimization.
• Experience in designing integrations between enterprise applications and external data sources using APIs, web services, and other integration technologies.
• Familiarity with Appian or a similar enterprise low-code/BPM/case management platform.
• Solid understanding of application architecture and the interplay between application design, data architecture, integrations, and system performance.
• Proficient in diagnosing and resolving complex technical and performance issues across applications, databases, and integrations.
• Ability to translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical and data architecture solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with the capability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior client leadership.
• Proven experience providing technical leadership, conducting design reviews, and mentoring developers or engineers.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain any federal government clearance and/or background investigation necessary for the assigned client engagement.
• Experience supporting federal government programs or other large, complex enterprise environments is preferred.
• In-depth technical expertise with the Appian platform, including application architecture, data architecture, record types, data stores, integrations, and platform performance is preferred.
• Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or other enterprise relational database technologies is preferred.
• Familiarity with PL/SQL and complex database development is preferred.
• Experience supporting large-scale workflow, case management, or business process management solutions is preferred.
• Familiarity with working within DHS or another federal civilian agency environment is preferred.
• Appian certifications or equivalent demonstrated expertise in the Appian platform is preferred.
