This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.
• Become a part of saas.group’s Central Data & BI Team.
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of the data platform, encompassing extract-and-load ingestion tools, dbt transformations, and SaaS metrics.
• Independently manage incoming data requests.
• Take ownership of production data issues, differentiating business changes from source, ingestion, or modeling challenges.
• Provide model modifications and analyses, from the initial inquiry to validated outcomes.
• Collaborate with portfolio companies, Finance, and saas.group leadership.
• Assist in acquisition due diligence by transforming unfamiliar billing and customer data into accurate revenue and customer metrics.
• Clarify inquiries, evaluate source data, investigate logic, create or adjust models, validate outcomes, and articulate implications and limitations.
• Develop and sustain production dbt models for billing, subscriptions, customers, recurring revenue, retention, and SaaS metrics.
• Create and maintain Metabase dashboards, reusable queries, recurring reports, and ad hoc analyses.
• Monitor data quality and freshness, reconcile figures, and trace discrepancies back to source systems.
• Oversee Airbyte source integrations, including custom connectors, and onboard data from newly acquired companies.
• Leverage AI tools for development, exploration, and documentation while safeguarding sensitive information.
• Challenge existing assumptions and provide independent insights on models, metrics, and priorities.
• Document definitions, source behaviors, limitations, and repeatable workflows.
• This is an individual contributor role without managerial responsibilities.
• A minimum of 3 years in hands-on data roles where SQL was the primary tool.
• Experience in building and maintaining data models with dbt or a similar code-based workflow, including version control and review.
• Proficiency in reviewing code, including Python, and evaluating its correctness and simplicity.
• Experience in tracing data from source systems through ingestion and transformation into actionable business insights.
• Strong analytical judgment and result validation skills.
• Clear and direct communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize tasks independently, maintain composure during production issues, and ensure follow-through.
• Daily hands-on experience with AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar in real data tasks.
• A keen curiosity about unfamiliar systems and a quick learning ability.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Availability to work during Central European hours.
• Nice to have: Knowledge of SaaS subscription metrics, experience with billing systems, PostgreSQL, Airbyte, APIs and data connectors, multi-product or multi-business-unit experience, and acquisition due diligence experience.
