Data Analyst, Metrics & Reporting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop, update, and sustain dashboards, reports, and visualizations that cater to the Cyber Security metrics and reporting requirements.

• Facilitate ongoing executive and operational reporting pertaining to Cyber Security objectives, KPIs, risks, trends, and performance.

• Collect and structure reporting requirements from stakeholders with assistance from the Strategy team.

• Pose clarifying inquiries regarding the report's purpose, target audience, and the decisions it aims to support.

• Employ SQL and reporting tools to extract, cleanse, organize, and analyze data from various sources.

• Conduct data validation checks, which include verifying totals, filters, joins, date ranges, duplicates, missing values, and metric logic.

• Document assumptions, data sources, calculations, and known limitations in the dashboards and reports.

• Identify data issues and escalate any questions or concerns prior to publishing or presenting results.

• Assist in exploratory analysis to uncover trends, anomalies, patterns, and potential areas for follow-up.

• Convert data into clear summaries that explain what has changed, where it has changed, and why it is significant.

• Collaborate with Cyber Security teams to grasp operational processes, source systems, and metric definitions.

• Help with data cleanup, reporting automation, and process enhancement initiatives.

• Implement best practices for dashboard design, data storytelling, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication.

• Utilize AI-assisted tools judiciously for learning, documentation, SQL troubleshooting, and productivity while ensuring output validation.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2-4 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, operations analytics, cybersecurity analytics, business analytics, or a comparable role.

• Proficient in SQL, encompassing joins, filtering, aggregations, and resolving basic query issues.

• Experience in creating dashboards or reports using Tableau, Power BI, Domo, Looker, or a comparable BI platform.

• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, data cleaning, and fundamental analysis.

• Capacity to meticulously review data and identify inconsistencies, missing information, or illogical results.

• Strong attention to detail and a readiness to verify work before dissemination.

• Ability to articulate findings clearly and succinctly for non-technical audiences.

• Capability to relate business operations to real-world data connections.

• Excellent communication skills and a readiness to seek clarification when requirements are ambiguous.

• Openness to feedback, willingness to revise work, and a commitment to improvement over time.

• Comfort in working independently in a remote setting while keeping stakeholders updated.

• Strong documentation practices, including tracking processes, data sources, assumptions, logic, and unresolved questions.

• Experience with Tableau (highly desired).

• Familiarity with Python for data cleaning, analysis, validation, or automation (highly desired).

• Knowledge of Databricks, Databricks SQL, notebooks, data lakes, or cloud analytics platforms (highly desired).

• Exposure to Cyber Security, risk, compliance, technology operations, incident management, change management, vulnerability management, or IT operations (highly desired).

• Familiarity with AI-assisted tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Databricks Assistant, or similar tools (highly desired).

• Experience in creating written summaries, business insights, or narratives for dashboards (highly desired).

• Experience working with multiple data sources or complex datasets (highly desired).

• Interest in advancing toward a senior BI, analytics, or data storytelling position (highly desired).
