This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Investigate datasets to uncover patterns and insights related to the American criminal justice systems.
• Conduct well-defined analyses with direction from senior analysts and the State Engagement team.
• Assist in state product launches by adhering to launch protocols, preparing analytical data, and identifying discrepancies.
• Create clear and well-documented visualizations and dashboards utilizing existing tools.
• Share findings with internal teams and present to state partners in collaboration with teammates.
• Examine trends connected to Recidiviz's initiatives to evaluate product performance.
• Acquire knowledge of state data, policies, and products while answering queries with increasing autonomy.
• At least 6 months of hands-on experience in exploring, analyzing, and cleaning real-world datasets; internships and research are included.
• Proficiency in SQL, encompassing joins, aggregations, and window functions.
• Basic knowledge of Python, particularly the Pandas package, for data analysis and visualization.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Passion for collaborating with a variety of internal and external partners.
• Attention to detail and curiosity in examining source data and verifying results closely.
• Interest in criminal justice or public policy, or experience with public-sector data (preferred).
• Familiarity with BI or dashboarding tools such as Looker or Tableau (preferred).
• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Looker, Jupyter notebooks, and Python/Pandas (preferred).
