Cybersecurity Practitioner – SOC, Incident Response, Detection, AppSec

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in two to three one-hour video discussions with the Mercor team over a span of approximately four weeks.

• Delve into the processes involved in enterprise cybersecurity work, including tools, workflows, and critical decision-making areas.

• Clarify how teams assess triage, investigation, containment, threat hunting, detection rules, and patch quality.

• Analyze the impact of AI assistance on current cybersecurity operations, identifying both benefits and drawbacks.

• Offer insights on what constitutes a credible AI cybersecurity benchmark.

• Review Mercor’s preliminary task taxonomy, pinpointing areas that are either missing or inaccurately labeled, along with different weighting considerations.

• Focus on describing trends rather than specific incidents, ensuring the exclusion of any confidential information.

• No tasks involving building, labeling, or submission of materials are required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a current or recent hands-on practitioner in the field of enterprise security.

• Experience as a SOC analyst or SOC lead (tier 2 and above), incident responder, digital forensics investigator, detection engineer, threat hunter, application security or product security engineer, or security engineer with red team involvement.

• Familiarity with an EDR and SIEM stack, such as CrowdStrike Falcon, Microsoft Defender and Sentinel, Splunk, SentinelOne, Elastic, or similar tools is advantageous.

• Security leaders are encouraged to apply, provided they remain actively involved in the work.

• Applicants must be based in the United States.

• Ability to operate as an independent contractor is required.
