Cybersecurity, OT-IT Security Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee strategic cyber engineering consultation initiatives

• Provide business development insights that balance security risks with opportunities

• Conduct reviews of contracts

• Perform in-depth security evaluations for engineering projects and client systems

• Assess engineering designs against AWWA and NIST CSF security frameworks

• Direct the provision of cybersecurity services to clients

• Validate the architecture, design, and implementation of security solutions

• Assist in business development from a cybersecurity viewpoint

• Ensure adherence to company policies and external digital security standards

• Collaborate with environmental engineers, SCADA/controls engineers, data engineers, and software developers

• Conduct cybersecurity risk and vulnerability assessments for ICS, SCADA networks, and enterprise IT environments

• Design secure network architectures for integrated IT/OT environments

• Assist with AWIA, EPA, and state compliance requirements for critical infrastructure

• Create cybersecurity governance deliverables, including policies, incident response strategies, system security plans, and roadmaps

• Evaluate and recommend OT security technologies

• Provide guidance on the secure design and implementation of cloud-connected SCADA, IoT/edge sensing, digital twins, and AI/agentic systems

• Contribute to proposals, scopes of work, client presentations, and thought leadership

• Keep abreast of emerging threats, technologies, and best practices

• Mentor and assist less experienced team members

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 8 years of relevant experience as a cybersecurity consultant

• Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or GICSP

• Experience with both on-premise and cloud-based system architecture

• Previous familiarity with NIST or similar security frameworks

• Advanced understanding of cybersecurity risks and mitigation strategies

• Proficiency in security solution architecture, design, and implementation

• Extensive knowledge in contract review and security assessments

• Capability to perform comprehensive security evaluations

• Understanding of physical and virtual network infrastructure security

• Strong knowledge of IT, OT, and ICS

• Awareness of cybersecurity policy compliance and adherence

• Experience with SCADA, PLC/RTU, HMI, and historian systems

• Familiar with protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, and EtherNet/IP

• Experience applying NIST SP 800-82, NIST CSF, IEC 62443, and CIS Controls

• Knowledge of network architecture and segmentation, firewalls, VPNs, secure remote access, and OT network monitoring systems

• Background in identity and access management, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and SIEM

• Experience securing Azure environments and utilizing Azure security services

• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and secure CI/CD pipelines

• Experience conducting client-facing cybersecurity assessments, gap analyses, and roadmaps

• A relevant degree or equivalent experience is required

• 8+ years of cybersecurity experience, including a minimum of 3 years focused on OT/ICS environments or critical infrastructure sectors

• Strong problem-solving abilities and communication skills

• Capacity to work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and IT stakeholders
