
Customs Clearance Specialist – Evenings, Weekends Required

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Prepare and conduct independent reviews of customs documentation for processing and entry releases.
• Address internal and external inquiries via phone, email, and Slack.
• Ensure files are completed accurately and timely in adherence to company and customs policies.
• Document notes and instructions for clients, freight forwarders, CBSA, carriers, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain and regularly update the client database.
• Proactively research knowledge and solutions.
• Prioritize deadlines and manage work in a reliable manner.
• Independently navigate and resolve complex situations.
• Process B3/CAD entries in compliance with Company, CBSA, and CBP standards.
• Correct any rejected Canada Customs entries.
• Accurately assign HS tariff classifications.
• Assist the sales team and promote BorderBuddy services through cross-selling.
• Maintain professional credentials through examinations or conferences.
• Support modern technology-enabled clearance workflows, including ecommerce parcel-level processing and automated brokerage tools.
• Communicate effectively with clients, customs authorities, carriers, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders.
• Report directly to the Customs Operations Manager for Canada.
• A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience in a customs brokerage position.
• Practical experience in processing all modes of transport.
• A diploma or degree in a related field.
• Post-secondary education or business courses in a related industry are advantageous.
• Experience with CANdata is beneficial.
• CCS designation or other relevant industry certifications; LCB designation is a plus.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a task-oriented mindset.
• Proactive problem-solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure.
• Excellent organizational skills, flexibility, and dependability.
• Proficiency in English is mandatory.
• Knowledge of French, Spanish, Cantonese, or Mandarin is an asset.
• Competency with computers and software applications.
• Must be a collaborative team player across brokerage and technology teams.
• Residency and ability to work from within Canada is required.
• Availability for rotating shifts including days, evenings, and weekends, with weekend work on a rotational basis.
