Customer Service Representative

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately input data, including payments and modifications.

• Report workflow issues to management.

• Address patient billing inquiries and third-party payer issues.

• Conduct interviews and provide guidance to patients regarding payment plans, charity support, and other assigned matters.

• Respond to patient inquiries promptly, accurately, and courteously.

• Identify and assess Medicare charity eligibility according to established criteria.

• Rebill accounts as needed.

• Collaborate with patients to settle account balances.

• Engage in frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling throughout the work shift.

• Operate in a typical business office environment with high stress and ongoing interruptions.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment (preferred).

• At least one (1) year of prior customer service experience (preferred).

• Maintain professional interactions at all times.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Familiarity with medical terminology (preferred).

• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding (preferred).

• Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in interactions with others.

• Proven customer service relations.

• Analytical skills required for problem-solving.

• Understanding of the Fair Debt Collection Act.

• Completion of specialized courses or seminars beyond high school related to collections, the medical field, or a hospital business office.

• General understanding of third-party payers, collection laws, and procedures.

• Excellent telephone communication abilities.

• Proficient in computer usage, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Capacity to communicate with patients in accordance with established age-specific education standards.

• Current knowledge of the Medicare reimbursement process and audit regulations.

• Familiarity with UB-92/1500 billing forms and EOMBs.

• Ability to comprehend both written and oral communication.

• Proficient in operating keyboards, fax machines, telephones, and other office equipment.

• Capability to meet physical demands, including occasionally lifting more than 50 lbs., frequently lifting up to 25 lbs., and constantly lifting up to 10 lbs.

• Visual acuity within normal limits.
