Crop Insurance Area Claims Supervisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Dakota.

📋 Description

• Direct and enhance the Upper Midwest claims team focused on Multi-Peril Crop Insurance, Private Products, and Named Peril claims operations.

• Cultivate partnerships with Regional Leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure claims processing is timely, accurate, and compliant.

• Deliver claims updates, analyses, and reports to the Regional Claims Manager.

• Oversee claims productivity, service-level performance, adjuster workloads, closure rates, payment timelines, and other essential metrics.

• Assess resource utilization and staffing requirements for streamlined claims operations and budget oversight.

• Recognize training and performance deficiencies and collaborate with Claims Training and leadership.

• Mentor and assist adjusters through guidance, work assessments, and constructive feedback.

• Oversee hiring, training, performance management, delegation, coaching, promotions, corrective actions, and terminations.

• Set and convey performance expectations that align with the company's goals, values, and service standards.

• Act as the local authority on claims adjusting matters and resolve any issues that arise.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in crop insurance claims.

• Preferred 2+ years of supervisory and/or management experience.

• CAPP certification is mandatory.

• A valid driver’s license with a commendable driving record is essential.

• An applicable state license is required.

• High school diploma or equivalent, or a suitable combination of education and experience.

• A Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business, or management is preferred.

• Familiarity with crop insurance regulations, policies, procedures, and best practices.

• Basic mathematical abilities are necessary.

• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

• Capability to fulfill documentation requirements.

• Proficient analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Capacity to work in both an office environment and outdoors in a farming setting.

• Excellent time management and prioritization abilities.

• Ability to perform under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.

• Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time.

• Capability to engage in sedentary work and maintain a seated or standing position continuously.

• Close visual acuity for tasks such as data analysis, computer usage, transcription, and extensive reading.

• Ability to work in various weather conditions, including heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid environments.

• Regular use of personal protective equipment is required.
