Crop Claims Representative

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Dakota.

📋 Description

• Oversee a portfolio of crop-related claims to assess compensability and liability

• Carry out investigations on claims to verify coverage and ascertain liability, compensability, and damages

• Execute fieldwork related to crops while utilizing knowledge of grain marketing

• Identify and potentially negotiate suitable claim settlements and reserves within designated authority

• Participate in arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as required

• Communicate routine to moderately complex coverage and settlement details to insured parties, claimants, and external stakeholders

• Approve payments within assigned authority limits and ensure they are processed promptly

• Preserve accurate and thorough claim files, encompassing correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements

• Execute additional duties as assigned

⛳️ Requirements

• Typically, a minimum of 6 months of experience in general agriculture, agricultural business/sales, agronomy, and/or grain merchandising

• Experience in Crop Insurance is highly advantageous

• Willingness to travel up to 40% within the designated territory

• Must be capable of continuous and extended walking and standing

• Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of items weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Involves frequent climbing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling

• Requires overhead reaching and grasping

• Consistent and reliable attendance is essential

• Ability to conduct visual inspections is necessary

• Must be prepared to work outdoors, even in adverse weather conditions

• Frequent travel is a requirement

• May necessitate the ability to operate a motor vehicle
