This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
• Deliver direct operational assistance to the US Critical Environments Operations Manager.
• Support the management of mission-critical engineering services across designated facilities.
• Coordinate daily operations within data centers, trading floors, LAN rooms, disaster recovery areas, and other critical environments.
• Monitor and promptly react to critical facility alarms, incidents, and infrastructure challenges.
• Aid in the implementation of the 100% uptime Critical Environment Management program.
• Prepare for and conduct audits for the JLL Client Assurance Program.
• Track and report on uptime, MTBF, MTTR, and critical load reliability KPIs.
• Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance for UPS, generators, PDUs, CRAC/CRAH units, electrical distribution, and fire suppression systems.
• Provide technical guidance for complex systems troubleshooting.
• Assist in capital budget forecasting and coordination with critical vendors.
• Lead root cause analysis for significant incidents, near-misses, and infrastructure irregularities.
• Ensure maintenance activities adhere to change management protocols to minimize risk to live environments.
• Identify opportunities for energy efficiency in cooling and power systems.
• Supervise and manage Chief Engineers, Assistant Chiefs, and Critical Environments Engineers.
• Schedule and prioritize maintenance windows, vendor tasks, and emergency responses.
• Assist with the performance management of critical environments engineering staff.
• Coordinate after-hours critical incidents and emergencies.
• Support environmental health and safety programs, risk assessments, LOTO compliance, and equipment isolation.
• Help with staff training, SOP development, tabletop exercises, and emergency response drills.
• Provide incident reporting, root cause analysis summaries, corrective action documentation, and client-facing support.
• Vocational degree in electrical systems, HVAC/refrigeration, or critical facilities management.
• Relevant work experience in mission-critical environments.
• At least 3 years of direct supervision in critical facilities operations with 24/7 responsibilities.
• 7 years of trade experience in critical environments.
• 3 years of engineering/supervisory experience in critical facilities.
• Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 75, TIA-942, and Uptime Institute standards.
• Understanding of critical infrastructure systems architecture and redundancy configurations.
• Knowledge of UPS systems, battery plants, emergency power generation, precision cooling, electrical distribution, BMS, and DCIM platforms.
• Comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems in critical facilities.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex critical systems under time constraints.
• Capability to interpret single-line electrical diagrams, mechanical P&IDs, and critical systems documentation.
• Proficiency with CMMS, MCIM, BMS platforms, and Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of change management protocols and maintenance windows in 24/7 settings.
• Valid state driver's license.
• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification.
• NFPA 70E Qualified Person certification for energized electrical work.
• Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and respond to emergencies.
• Ability to react to critical incidents within typically 1–2 hours.
• Regular travel to various critical facility locations within the assigned region.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays during planned maintenance windows.
