This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands, +2 more countries.
• Develop and lead the credit risk framework for Finom’s SME Credit Card and Overdraft offerings.
• Manage, enhance, and refine Finom’s Credit Risk engine, which includes its framework, guidance, analytics, and technical infrastructure.
• Own and advance the comprehensive credit risk framework for credit cards, covering eligibility, underwriting, scoring models, limit setting, risk appetite, monitoring, and reporting.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to integrate risk considerations into product design and strategy.
• Design the data strategy utilizing transactional, bureau, behavioral, accounting, government registry, and first-party account data.
• Lead the ML & Data Science team in developing, validating, and iterating credit scoring and associated risk models.
• Establish and oversee the portfolio monitoring framework.
• Create, build, and calibrate early warning indicators and credit monitoring systems.
• Serve as a Second Line of Defense, ensuring strong origination, monitoring, and collections processes.
• Manage and enhance credit risk policies, risk appetite frameworks, and reporting mechanisms.
• Ensure compliance with EMI/PS4 regulatory requirements and adapt to evolving European standards.
• Work closely with the CRO, Product, ML & Data Science, Operations, and Engineering teams.
• 5+ years of experience in credit risk management.
• Practical expertise in SME lending and credit card products.
• Extensive experience with automated underwriting and risk models within fintech or digital banking sectors.
• A STEM/quantitative degree in physics, data science, applied mathematics, statistics, econometrics, or quantitative finance is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of risk governance, policies, and processes.
• Proficient in utilizing AI tools and agents.
• Possess a unit-economics/product-led-growth mindset.
• Ability to align diverse stakeholders across Product, Legal, Finance, Engineering, and ML/DS domains.
• Familiarity with EMI/PS4 regulation and associated reporting requirements is a plus.
• Knowledge of European regulatory frameworks (DNB, ECB/EBA, Basel) is advantageous.
• Practical experience with SME or credit card models in Germany, Italy, or the Netherlands is beneficial.
