This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +2 more countries.
• Develop and lead the credit risk framework for SME credit cards and overdraft products.
• Supervise and enhance Finom’s credit risk engine, which includes its framework, guidance, analytics, and technical infrastructure.
• Take ownership of the comprehensive credit risk framework that encompasses eligibility, underwriting, scoring models, limit setting, risk appetite, monitoring, and reporting.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to incorporate risk considerations into product design and strategy.
• Design the data strategy utilizing transactional, bureau, behavioral, accounting, government registry, and first-party data.
• Provide guidance to the ML and Data Science team in developing, validating, and refining credit scoring and associated risk models.
• Construct and manage the portfolio monitoring stack.
• Create, build, and calibrate early-warning indicators and credit monitoring systems.
• Serve as a robust Second Line of Defense, ensuring solid origination, monitoring, and collections processes.
• Take ownership of and continuously enhance credit risk policies, risk appetite frameworks, and reporting mechanisms.
• Ensure compliance with EMI/PS4 regulatory standards and the evolving norms across Europe.
• Work collaboratively with Product, ML & Data Science, Operations, and Engineering, while having direct interaction with the CRO.
• Over 5 years of experience in credit risk, particularly with hands-on expertise in SME lending and credit card products.
• Extensive experience with automated underwriting and risk models within fintech or digital banking sectors.
• A STEM or quantitative degree in fields such as physics, data science, applied mathematics, statistics, econometrics, or quantitative finance is highly advantageous.
• Strong comprehension of risk governance, policies, and procedures.
• Proficient in using AI tools and agents to improve productivity and decision-making processes.
• Possess a unit-economics/product-led-growth mindset.
• Capability to align various stakeholders from Product, Legal, Finance, Engineering, and ML/DS.
• Familiarity with EMI/PS4 regulations and related reporting requirements is a plus.
• Knowledge of European regulatory frameworks (DNB, ECB/EBA, Basel) is an added advantage.
• Practical experience with SME or credit card models in Germany, Italy, or the Netherlands is a plus.
