Credit Officer II – SBA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and make decisions on small business loan applications within a centralized framework for complex loans.

• Deliver loan verdicts and/or credit suggestions founded on all underwriting standards.

• Work alongside the Sales team to create loan structures that align with customer requirements and the organization’s risk profile.

• Guide and support team members throughout the loan decision-making process.

• Analyze financial statements provided in loan packages.

• Assess global cash flow and balance sheets for SBA loans up to $5 million.

• Draft written assessments of customers’ financial situations and future projections, pinpointing risks and mitigation strategies.

• Support and mentor colleagues within Credit and Portfolio Monitoring.

• Discover opportunities and propose enhancements for process improvements and software development.

• Identify and evaluate all required due diligence items.

• Negotiate loan terms and conditions with loan originators and convey loan decisions.

• Identify, evaluate, manage, monitor, and report risks while operating within the risk appetites of Provide and Fifth Third Bank.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in underwriting, portfolio monitoring, or comparable business loan analysis.

• Fundamental understanding of commercial lending as well as credit standards, policies, procedures, and products.

• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.

• Capability to communicate ideas clearly both verbally and in written form.

• Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.

• Degree in accounting, finance, or economics (preferred).

• Knowledge of Fifth Third’s internal applications (preferred).
