Cost Estimator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete estimating process for various projects, which includes conducting kickoff and alignment meetings.

• Execute conceptual or detailed bottom-up estimates and/or manage estimating teams from partner organizations.

• Facilitate estimate reviews and validate costs/quantities.

• Collaborate with preferred engineering and construction firms to create project cost estimates.

• Prepare conceptual estimates when design details are scarce.

• Generate detailed bottom-up estimates necessary for project approval.

• Identify risks and opportunities for value enhancement.

• Evaluate estimate quality and cross-check estimates with both internal and external data.

• Review and scrutinize change orders during the construction phase.

• Benchmark actual project costs post-completion to enhance future estimating accuracy.

• Work in conjunction with project teams and preferred construction and engineering partners.

• Ensure that estimating structures are consistent with project work breakdown structures.

• Communicate identified risks and improvement opportunities to reviewers.

• Monitor and analyze project expenses, collaborating with project teams to manage and enhance cost outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of ten years of project estimating experience in industrial, chemical, oil and gas, or related sectors.

• Comprehensive knowledge of cost build-ups, engineering documents, blueprints, and other deliverables that affect estimates.

• Capability to evaluate estimating methodologies that influence the quality of estimates.

• Exceptional attention to detail and adept problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented setting.

• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

• Proficiency in data management and historical cost tool development is preferred.

• A degree in construction management or building science is preferred.

• Experience in construction and/or project management is preferred.

• Expertise in estimating costs for process piping and/or electrical work is preferred.

• Knowledge in the pulp and paper industry is preferred.

• AACEI certification as a Certified Cost Professional (CCP) is preferred.

• Familiarity with EcoSys software is preferred.

• Experience with Qlik software is preferred.

• Successful completion of a drug test may be a requirement where permitted by state law.
