Cost Allocation Consultant – Local Government, Indirect Costs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assess budgets, expenditure documentation, organizational frameworks, and current cost allocation methodologies.

• Collaborate with finance personnel and departmental leaders to pinpoint direct costs, shared services, and indirect cost pools.

• Create allocation strategies that are consistent with the client's operations and the data available.

• Develop a comprehensive cost allocation plan and an indirect cost rate proposal that meet the requirements of 2 CFR Part 200.

• Construct detailed calculation schedules along with supporting documentation.

• Present findings and recommendations to financial leadership and address any inquiries during reviews.

• Offer practical guidance to ensure staff can maintain and update the plans effectively.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in preparing comprehensive cost allocation plans and indirect cost rate proposals for municipalities or counties.

• Solid understanding of 2 CFR Part 200 cost principles and their relevance to local government.

• Background in analyzing governmental accounting records and distributing central service costs.

• Proficient in Excel modeling, documentation, and financial analysis.

• Capable of leading client meetings and conveying technical findings in accessible language.

• Preferred experience in assisting agencies with the review or negotiation of indirect cost rates.
