Corporate Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Prepare and negotiate a diverse array of commercial agreements that support NMI's sales teams in the US and UK, including customer proposals and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).

• Offer practical, business-focused legal and commercial contract guidance to colleagues across all levels of the organization.

• Assist with data protection inquiries and oversee data compliance issues throughout the company.

• Negotiate vendor contracts and provide counsel on contracting models, product design, compliance, corporate governance, and various legal matters.

• Develop and maintain template agreements, contract review manuals, and other legal resources.

• Identify and enhance legal processes to improve team efficiency.

• Engage with various corporate and commercial legal issues and report to the Associate General Counsel.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of legal experience, either in a law firm or an in-house role.

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in good standing with at least one state bar association.

• Capability to deliver practical, business-oriented legal and commercial contract advice directly to colleagues at all hierarchical levels.

• Innovative and strategic thinker capable of developing and refining processes to enhance efficiencies.

• Experience with, or a willingness to engage in, corporate and commercial matters in both the US and the UK.

• Quick to learn and adept at handling new and complex issues.

• Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.

• Works independently and can make swift decisions.

• Background in-house at a rapidly growing technology firm or experience advising FinTech companies in a law firm setting.

• Strong interest in and understanding of the payment industry and SaaS contracting models.

• Experience in the payment industry or account-to-account payments is advantageous (but not essential).

• Knowledge of privacy regulations, including familiarity with GDPR; CIPP/E or CIPP/M certification is a bonus (but not required).

• Successful completion of background and financial checks.

• Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
